Hit pre-school show featuring stars such as Meat Loaf and Alesha Dixon is in the running for prestigious British Academy Children’s Award 2009
Happy Films are proud to announce Bookaboo has been nominated for Best Pre-school Live Action at the Electronic Arts British Academy Children’s Awards which will take place on Sunday 29 November 2009. Following a successful first series on CiTV and DVD release distributed by Abbey Home Media Group (

Other nominations competing in the Pre-School Live Action category with Bookaboo (Lucy Goodman, Ian Emes, Happy Films/CiTV) include The Christmas Milkshake Show (Naomi Wilkinson, Milkshake/Channel Five), Grandpa In My Pocket (Mellie Buse, Jan Page, Richard Bradley, Adastra Creative Ltd/CBeebies) and In the Night Garden (Andrew Davenport, Anne Wood, Dirk Campbell, Ragdoll Productions/CBeebies).
Appealing to pre-schoolers and parents, Bookaboo features a celebrity guest in each episode who is invited backstage to share a story with the rock drumming puppy Bookaboo as “without a story a day he just can’t play”. Produced by Happy Films, Bookaboo mixes live action with animation to bring the stories to life. The puppet character was made by Paul Andrecho of Puppet Heap whose client portfolio also includes The Jim Henson Company, Sesame Workshop and Walt Disney Co.

www.abbeykids.co.uk) has recently been released in store from 19 October 2009 and includes seven episodes (7 x 11 minutes) featuring Meat Loaf, Alesha Dixon, Al Murray, Robson Green, Ben Shephard, Fern Britton, and Kym Marsh. The dedicated consumer website
