International fashion and portrait photographer Huggy Ragnarsson launches the duracell 'how do you charge your batteries? Photography competition' Duracell know that there’s nothing worse than reaching for your camera after spotting a beautiful vista across the horizon only to realise that your batteries are out of power and your opportunity to capture the image is lost forever!

Seven out of ten rechargeable batteries purchased are used for digital photography , so to celebrate the relaunch of its fantastic range of rechargeable battery solutions Duracell has teamed up with Huggy Ragnarsson, top international fashion and portrait photographer and former catwalk model, to launch the Duracell ‘How Do You Recharge Your Batteries’ Photography Competition.

This exciting and innovative competition, which is being held in association with Getty Images Gallery - the central-London exhibition space for the world’s largest picture library - invites people to illustrate photographically how they like to recharge their batteries. A panel of judges, including Huggy and two Getty photographers, will choose 50 of the best images to feature in a four-week exhibition at Getty Images Gallery in October.

Those 50 entries will then be whittled down (and no doubt much debated over…) until ten finalists from which one overall winner will be chosen, with the overall winner receiving the exclusive opportunity to spend a day shadowing a professional Getty Images photographer. All finalists will win a Canon camera and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the Hulton Archive, the largest collection of analogue photography in the world!

As if that wasn’t enough of a prize for all those budding David Baileys out there, the overall winner will also land £2,000 worth of top-of-the-range photography equipment from Canon.

Huggy, who is currently earning her critical spurs as a member of the judging panel on Living TV’s ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’, said, “When Duracell approached me to launch its ‘How Do You Recharge Your Batteries?’ photography competition I was delighted, especially as its rechargeable range is absolutely perfect for me - as a photographer I rely on being powered-up.

Spending a lot of my time rushing from country to another and from shoot to shoot, the last thing I want to be worried about is a battery blackout as I’m snapping away. Being powered-up with Duracell’s rechargeable batteries in my 35mm camera really does give me the confidence and freedom to get into my ‘photographic zone’ and do what I do best – take pictures where ever I am.

I’m really excited about helping to judge this competition. I think the brief is fabulously wide and fun, and therefore should inspire some really creative entries. I can’t wait to see how the UK likes to recharge its batteries!”

The Duracell rechargeable range includes a wide range of power solutions which includes the award winning Duracell Mini Charger, UK & ROI winner of the 2008 Battery Product of The Year .
