  • Kia Sedona comes top with femaleLIFESTYLE

When Kia (www.kia.co.uk) asked femaleLIFESTYLE to try the Sedona over the bank holiday – we were delighted but didn't quite know what to expect. What arrived was big, but tasteful. It was a spacious 7-seater which was surprisingly easy to park.

We already had our 2 cars on the drive, and so had to park the Sedona in the narrow part; the part where you can’t open the doors of any car. However, this wasn’t a problem with the Sedona since the rear sliding doors and the space between the driver & passenger seats meant we could still climb in. The seats folded away easily. In fact, they could be removed entirely giving you the option of 2 (van), 5 (big boot) or 7 seat (people carrier) configuration. All seats were full sized and fully adjustable. There was plenty of leg room.

The interior was pleasant with dark grey plastic, cloth seats and specially shaped mats throughout. There were lots of storage compartments, cup and bottle holders and a dual cigarette lighter. We used one for the sat nav.

Firstly, we took the Sedona on a school run to collect the children who were clearly excited when the saw it. They were anxious to go in it throughout the weekend in fact. They argued over which of the seats they would sit in and tried each for comfort. Although they wanted to sit in the third / rear row, we encouraged them to sit in the middle row – where we could hear and reach them.

The children loved the sliding doors, and electric windows: all with child safe locks. They were also impressed that they could control their own (split) air conditioning.

Next we drove over to grandmas to take her out for a spin - not normally an option but we had seven seats. She climbed in and enjoyed a very comfortable trip to the shops. We encouraged her to stock up since there was so much space for our shopping.

The next day we put the Sedona in its 5-seater position, enabling us to put a double buggy and boxes for our trip to Hunmanby Gap (seaside). The seats were comfortable. The suspension smoothed out any bumps in the road. The 2.8 turbo-diesel had definite pull in high revs – but we kept it steady. Despite the big engine it didn’t seem at all thirsty. The Sedona is a tall car and has excellent all-round visibility which is good for safety. There were plenty of airbags as well.

On Sunday we went to a femaleSOCCER match - Huddersfield Town v Blythe Spartans. Unfortunately the light drizzle turned to a heavy downpour so we had to go however, what we saw was exciting. The Sedona was easy to find in the car park being so tall.

At the end of the Sedona’s visit we all discussed what we thought of it. We agreed that we enjoyed travelling in it. The Sedona is a great family car, and we were nicely surprised at its road handling – a serious consideration.
