The International Indian Film Academy, or IIFA, is an organisation that promotes Hindi cinema globally. The brand-ambassador is Amitabh Bachchan.
IIFA also organises yearly awards and film weeks in a particular country to promote the Hindi Films and celebrate best movie, best director, best actor, best actress and other major award segments. The films awards were first organized at the Millennium Dome in London 2000 since then have been hosted at cities all over the world.
This years host is Yorkshire! An estimated 30,000 extra overseas visitors will pour into the area for the huge event. The IIFA Weekend 2007 will be jointly hosted by Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York and Hull. The 5 cities will come together for a celebration that has never been seen before.
Shopping festivals, food festivals, cinema exhibitions and showcases, workshops, sporting events, fashion extravaganzas, contests and a lot more is what we will be expecting.
