  • The news people with a mortgage were waiting for

Today – the Bank of England announced the latest interest rates, leaving them unchanged at a record low of 0.5%. It’s also likely to remain low until around November according to economists. It’s likely that it has been kept as such because of the fragile UK economy.

This is great news for those of us with a mortgage which tracks the base rate, but not so great for people who are prudent enough to have savings in these difficult times. It also won’t help with the high inflation, but may have a positive effect on people taking up new mortgages during the house price slump.
