I don’t know about you, but I was getting so tired of that big, blousy look. As refined and demure as those big sleeved empire line blouses and dresses are, and as comforting as it is to sometimes take refuge behind metres of fabric, I can’t help thinking that perhaps they aren’t the most flattering of styles. If one had been pregnant, however, over the past 2 years, there certainly would not have been a shortage of fashionable styles to draw from without resorting to typical maternity wear.

Whist this looser fitting, more demure fashion was always a great hit with out girlfriends, who understand the importance of adhering to fashion trends, our boyfriends and husbands did not seem to grasp these styles in the same way, as I encountered from several baffled male responses to my gorgeous a-line, yet pretty shapeless dresses. It is clear that men appreciate a more fitted, body skimming style, irrespective of fashion trends. It is fortunate, therefore, that this Autumn/Winter 09 has seen the return of a fitted, streamlined silhouette, with an endless array of saucy, silky, sequined, wet-look, leather and studded styles to tantalise the senses, and no better time to show off our new winter wardrobe as in the upcoming party season!
